Clerkenwell Design Week 2023 Highlights

Clerkenwell Design Week made its anticipated return in May 2023 to the streets of Clerkenwell, with a fantastic three days filled with showrooms, events, products, installations, brand activations, topical talks and more.

We selected some of our favourite highlights from our member showrooms to show you what we saw during #CDW23! We will be exploring what our members showcased at the event, highlighting new cutting-edge products, sustainability themed products and showroom activities.

Plusfloor were presenting their new sustainable carpet tile backing. The new BaseZero carpet backing is made from 100% recycled materirals and contains zero toxins. It is completely recyclable as part of their LoopBack initiative.

NaughtOne showcased their new Pippin Chair which has an environmental backing where the cover can be zipped on and off making it easy to change. They also showcased their Morse Table System which empowers flexibility through simplicity. Designed to run at endless lengths and with a multitude of accessories, Morse complements and adds interest to any space.

Villeroy and Boch had their new complete range of brass wear at the event, including taps, showers and bath fillers designed to complement the sanitary range. They come in a number of different colour finishes at all price points. Perfect for hospitality and residential projects.

Ultrafabrics are in collaboration with Pantone this year with the colour of the year being magenta. Their exclusive Pantone inspired palettes are designed to energize and transform any interior space with colour.

KI Europe gave us a tour round ‘Clubhouse’, a revolutionary system of acoustic frames and panels designed to create customised, flexible structures that meet all your privacy needs.

Agua Fabrics showed us their two new textured-packed soft fabric collections, Eden and Bouclé that are perfect for all environments, from cruise to workplace and healthcare to hospitality. They are very high performing and designed for the commercial market.

ILIV had several new fabrics on show, but their Oakland flame retardant velvet with a dry handle and mottled cotton fleck really stood out to us! Made up of 73% polyester and 21% BCI cotton. Each 100cm of Oakland is equivalent to recycling twenty-eight 500ml plastic bottles, making it an eco-friendly choice.

Moons were highlighting their circularity sustainability story – they receive the raw material and handle the whole process. They meticulously sort all waste that moves through their mill to ensure proper disposal – from cardboard and paper recycling, to capturing loose fibre and waste selvedge and sending it off to be properly recycled.

Crosswater also had several new products on show, with their brand-new Limit Range standing out to us! It relates to texture, form, and function with geometric angles. Reflecting the beauty of decisive geometric angles and signature texture without harsh haptic feedback.

Franklite had a very unique stand at the festival which highlighted their new Galaxy Range. The colour can be changed from warm white to cool white lighting.

Ege Carpets had a collaboration with Dyson Hair in their showroom. Their centrepiece rug was designed by their in-house designer and showcases flexibility, highlighting a watercolour painting that it was started with.

They had a room set piece with a rug from their industrial landscape collection with Tom Dixon, inspired by London and the industrial landscape – the design takes inspiration from the River Thames!

Panaz showcased new products in a special exhibition at their new London showroom where they highlighted their collaboration with Timorous Beasties. The new Intaglio Collection embodies Timorous Beasties unique mastery of diverse pattern and inspirational signature style presented on original Panaz base cloths.

Milliken were presenting their Northern Soul collection – a collection influenced by the music and dance movement of the 70s. It shows bold typographic elements combined with intricate patterns.

Ocee & Four Design held a Lego challenge throughout the event and every hour people had 10 minutes to create a design out of Lego to win a prize.

Havwoods showed us their amazing Luminous Enlighten collection which glows in the dark and reacts to light!

Camira have launched ‘Revolution’ which is a fabric produced from off cuts! They collaborated with award winning textile waste artist Sandra Junele. She makes art using water-based glue which is environmentally friendly.

Other exhibiting Commercial Interiors UK members included Astro, Boss Design, Chelsom, CMD, Elite Office Furniture, Gresham, Imperial Office Furniture, Morgan, Muraspec, Table Place Chairs, Sanipex, Satelliet, Sedus, Vescom, Wagstaff.
