Owned and published by Commercial Interiors UK, Design Insider amplifies the expertise of global commercial interior designers and suppliers by showcasing the latest products, projects and people, while also instigating the sector’s most important conversations.
IN THE FOLD builds on this role, bringing key editorial content back into view and extending the value of the insight shared across Design Insider each quarter.
A curated quarterly for the commercial interiors community
We are surrounded by an extraordinary amount of content every day. Insight, inspiration, expertise and innovation are more accessible than ever before, yet even the most valuable articles can quickly pass by.
The first edition of IN THE FOLD was created to address this challenge, and it has been successful in its ambition to bring key content back to the surface. Following positive feedback from readers and strong subscriber engagement, the second edition continues this purpose, offering the commercial interiors community another opportunity to pause, catch up and reconnect with the stories shaping the sector.
This felt especially relevant during Q2, a quarter shaped by a busy calendar of national and international events, including Milan Design Week and Clerkenwell Design Week. With new launches, industry conversations and major design moments competing for attention, IN THE FOLD offers a valuable opportunity to revisit the standout content that may otherwise have slipped out of view.
Each edition presents a curated edit of Design Insider content, spanning workplace, hospitality, healthcare, education, materials, sustainability, events and industry news, providing a balanced and representative view of the commercial interiors industry.
Recognising industry contribution
This second edition highlights the breadth of engagement across the Design Insider platform during Q2, bringing together a curated selection of articles that reflect the contribution of design studios, suppliers, industry experts and Commercial Interiors UK members.
By returning to this content in a dedicated quarterly publication, IN THE FOLD extends the visibility of the people, projects and products featured across Design Insider, while giving readers a clear and accessible route back into the quarter’s most valuable stories.
Subscriber-exclusive insight
Alongside curated content, IN THE FOLD continues to include an exclusive feature available only to subscribers.
The second edition includes a conversation with Philippa Wagner, founder of PeoplePlacesSpaces, published here for the first time. Drawing on her work in futures thinking, cultural strategy and hospitality insight, Philippa explores the risk of designing from assumption and the importance of understanding the future guest.
Her article considers how hospitality brands can respond to the “now, new and next” guest, why traditional guest categories no longer tell the full story, and how the increasingly complex “both/and guest” is reshaping expectations around hospitality spaces. It is a timely and thought-provoking feature for designers, suppliers, operators and developers looking to create places that remain relevant beyond opening night.
Supporting industry visibility and engagement
IN THE FOLD strengthens Design Insider’s role as a platform for industry visibility, while also supporting Commercial Interiors UK’s wider objectives:
