At Commercial Interiors UK, we understand that sustainability is a priority for our members—not just in response to legislation or market trends, but as a core value guiding their business operations. As a supporting association of the Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme (FISP), we’re committed to helping members navigate the path toward more responsible and future-fit practices.

What is FISP?
Established in 2006, FISP is an independently certified sustainability programme developed specifically for the UK furniture industry. It supports companies in improving their environmental, social, and economic performance through structured assessment and best-practice guidance.
With a strong reputation across the supply chain—from manufacturers and designers to procurement professionals—FISP has become a recognised indicator of sustainable business practices. It addresses everything from energy and waste management to sustainable procurement, workforce development, and ethical employment.
Our Relationship with FISP
While membership of FISP is not automatic for Commercial Interiors UK members, our partnership with the programme means we can:
Signpost members to the tools and resources FISP offers.
Share guidance and updates from FISP that are relevant to our sector.
Represent the voice of the commercial interiors industry on sustainability matters through involvement in FISP’s Steering Committee.
This relationship enables us to keep our members informed and connected with one of the most established sustainability frameworks in the furniture industry.
A Valuable Resource for Members
As more clients, specifiers, and procurement teams place sustainability at the top of their agendas, understanding how programmes like FISP operate—and what they look for—can give businesses a competitive edge. FISP membership can support companies in:
Demonstrating sustainability credentials through independent certification.
Improving internal practices across areas such as energy use, packaging, ethical employment, and community engagement.
Aligning with broader sustainability goals, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Our role is to ensure that our members have access to the right information, support and networks—whether that’s through FISP, or other platforms—to continue making meaningful progress.
Looking Ahead
We believe that partnerships like this one reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting a more sustainable commercial interiors industry. As FISP evolves, we will continue to share developments, insights and opportunities with our members—helping them stay informed, responsible, and resilient in a changing marketplace.
