The BCFA and Design Insider team headed to the newly located and branded Sleep + Eat exhibition at Olympia, London, to exhibit alongside 150 exhibitors- 43 of which were BCFA members. Sleep + Eat is a show targeted at the people designing, developing and operating the most talked-about hotels, restaurants and bars in the world. Olympia is becoming a popular location for many of the key design shows in our sector. This is despite the challenges of reaching the location for many of the specifiers located to the East of London. We were delighted to find that most of our members reported a good attendance with quality enquiries, of course time will tell how these convert into new business.
Over the two days, the marketing team ventured around the show to visit the members, and to find inspiration in the innovative and new products displayed…
Lincrusta
Lincrusta were exhibiting their handcrafted wallcoverings, including ‘Tropical, ‘Palm’ and ‘Fanfare’. New designs will be launched in the new year, so keep your eyes peeled!
Sunbury Design
The highlight at Sunbury Design was their 'Artisan' collection which is for a high-performance upholstery fabric designed for the contract and hospitality environments. It was great to catch up with the team!
Roman
Roman were displaying a collection of shower designs which showcased their impressive British manufacturing capabilities and highlighted their design flexibility.
Chelsom
Chelsom were the only exhibitors to recognise the opportunity presented by the 'view from above' by adding lighting to the roof of their stand.
The Romo Group
Romo took advantage of the height of their stand which really showed off the stunning rape qualities of their product. A really outstanding exhibition space rewarded with our best in show award!
Agua Fabrics
Agua Fabrics featured a colour range carefully designed to complement the stand shape to ensure it looked great from all angles.
Whistler Leather
Whistler Leather had two diverse stands at Sleep + Eat this year to display the different types of leathers they produce. The first stand was a colourful vibrant fun stand which showed their leather cinema seats—we were almost tempted to sit on them as they looked so comfy, but knew we would struggle getting back up! The second stand displayed their new brand ‘Arch 8’ Faux Leather which was featured on the wall of the stand as well as their ‘Segovia’ range.
Delius Textiles
Delius Textiles introduced us to their new ‘Gesa’ range, and their innovative Flame Retardant 3D knitwear—the interaction of an innovative knitting technology with a soft weft.
Sekers
The ‘Copernicus’ range by Sekers is one of their best-sellers, available in 21 colours and supplied with crib 5 backing. The stand featured the fabrics draped across the walls, as well as on some products on stands such as the chairs seen in the photo.
Morgan
Morgan launched their brand new ‘Porto Collection’ at Sleep + Eat this year, an elegant selection of products with luxurious timber and upholstery detailing. Morgan also relaunched their ‘Rio’ range a collaborative project with Studio INTERGRATE, with newly designed tables.
Style Library Contract
Style Library Contract exhibited alongside a selection of their other brands Zoffany, Harlequin and Sanderson with their fabrics and wallcoverings for the contract sector. The stand remained consistently busy throughout the exhibition!
Skopos
Skopos displayed their ‘Bonita’ range—a sophisticated soft matt cotton-look velvet option in an array of bright jewel colours and some neutrals.
Newhey Carpets
Newhey carpets showed us their latest ‘Natural Earth’ collection with ‘Evo Bac’, a recycled backing for their carpets. Each 1sqm carpet uses 8 plastic bottles recycled within the backing!
Knightsbridge Furniture
The Knightsbridge stand featured their new ‘Coupe’ range, upholstered with Panaz fabric ‘Lush’. This beautiful product is perfect for enhancing areas with it’s stunning fluted back detail.
Burgess Furniture
The Burgess furniture stand was full of innovative products, including the ‘SmartRocks’ bench with an optional charging point, incredibly useful for the break out spaces!
Balmoral Textiles
This was the first time Balmoral Textiles exhibited at Sleep+Eat showcasing their latest ‘Infinity Collection’. As one of the new members of the BCFA it was a great opportunity for us to stop by and have a chat with a team on the stand!
Hansgrohe
We had a very soothing time on the Hansgrohe Stand as they told us about their new shower range ‘Phoenix Design’ with an innovative spray technology ‘Powder Rain’, giving the water flow a soft feel and a massage effect.
Laufen
Laufen’s backdrop told us a story of their manufacturing process, from the kiln to the end product. The Sonar and Riven products were exhibited at Sleep this year.
