HIX 2022

After much anticipation, the Business Design Centre opened for Europe’s only hotel design event – HIX. Returning bigger and better for 2022, the event brought the hotel interiors community together for two days of networking, discussions and celebration against a backdrop of design installations, social spaces and a curated exhibition of Europe’s leading suppliers.

Commercial Interiors UK are delighted to be the co-founding partner of this event, with 45 of our members exhibiting at the event. Showcasing our new name for the first time at the exhibition, the fun and colourful backdrop featured an image of SpaceInvaders Novella Residential Amenity Design (image by Andrew Smith/SG Photograhpy). We welcomed many visitors wanting to find out more about the re brand.

The show began with a mass of visitors, starting the two days off with a flurry of human interaction. Visitors and exhibitors were able to connect with each other and discover design products for the hospitality sector. This was followed by an evening social allowing visitors to enjoy the expert hospitality of the exhibitors with a series of activations, receptions and parties across the show floor.

There were numerous new products on show for visitors to see, from a whole range of products including textiles, bathrooms, lighting and wallcoverings. Many of these having just launched or being previews of collections for 2023.

The event hosted an excellent talks programme, with our media partner Design Insider supporting a talk on ‘The Ultimate Resort: All Inclusive’. Editor, Alys Bryan, was joined by Tina Norden, Partner at Conran and Partners and Federico Toresi, Global VP Design, Ultra Luxe, Luxury & Premium brands at Accor, to discuss the Ultimate Resort.

In line with Accor's redefinition of 'all-inclusive' hospitality, Conran & Partners were tasked with researching and designing a masterplan for the ultimate resort project; based on research into the behaviors, values, habits and desires set to drive the next generation of guests. The session outlined the results and shared a blueprint for the future of resort hotel experiences.

A big thank you to everyone who was involved with this year’s event, and also to the visitors for making the two days a true success.
